Cluster Analysis of China’s Light Manufacturing PSS: Sustainable Development via Datum Clustering.

Kevin Michael Fleary, Ye Chunming

Abstract

China’s 2016-2020 Light Industrial Development Plan aims to accomplish set objectives; this research discusses and examines the innovation capability of China to understand the degree of preparedness towards accomplishment of said objectives despite liability of newness with Product Service System Development. The study also introduced a conceptual model for datum clustering as a means to digitally connect disperse clusters for added advantages.

The innovative capability was then represented along the Product Service System Lifecycle in-order to demonstrate the significance of each step in regards to the facets of industrial clustering. To unearth the degree of significance among variables and its ability to deliver, 3 Stage Least Stage Regression Analysis was conducted to develop insight.

The results show that Datum clustering creates a competitive edge with a 68% chance of success during the 2016-2020 period for the development plan. While China’s innovative capacity is at 80% demonstrating that China has an apt cadre of scientific and technology resources ready to take on the challenge ahead. Datum clustering will impact firm’s value chain and business models therefore an understanding of the intricacies is critical.

Further understanding the innovative capacity of China aids with developmental plans by directing attention to opportunities and drawbacks. This therefore can assist government and firms with strategies to manage investment/policy and competition respectively. The drawbacks to the study were a result of data restriction impacting model design. Nonetheless the study opens discussion on the possibility for competition given a mega technopole customer requirement system
